In Part One, we discussed how to relax with the news that you’re a new mom. Now, in part two, let’s flip that around. Too many new moms use the baby-on-board as an excuse to stop exercising, and they become part of the most miserable group of moms-to-be we ever meet. Pregnancy means a change to your exercise routine, not abandoning any semblance of exercise and nutrition. Your baby needs the right nutrition, but that shouldn’t mandate you give up ever being sexy again.
So, do we agree? Exercise does not go away just because your hubby is handing out cigars to announce the pending arrival of John, Jr. Good. That means simple, low-impact exercise is in your future for the next few months. You can find plenty of tips on this from “Nine Months In, Nine Months Out” @9mi9mo authors @StaciaKelly and @CorryLMatthews. One of these tips is to get out and walk regularly. The image of the Mom on the couch watching soaps and eating bon bons = epic FAIL. You weren’t that bride. Don’t be that mom.
Get out and walk regularly. Here are our tips for a few tunes to get you around the track. (again, my mission is to unite some artists you know with a few you don’t. just keep putting left foot in front of right and make it happen.)
“Party Rock Anthem” LFMAO (dance) straight up dance song to get you started
“Dynamite” Taio Cruz (dance) along the same vibe
“Good Life” One Republic (pop) celebrates the good things in life
“Squeeze Box” The Who (rock) a silly song that gets the feet moving to the tune of family dynamics
“Searching for a Feeling” Michael Wainwright (pop) fun sing-a-long pop song
“Message in a Bottle” The Police (pop) all time great rock love song
“Not a Virgin” POE (pop) great song about sexual independence
“Forget You” Cee Lo Green (pop) catchy song about relationships
“Rollin’ in the Deep” Adele (pop) great relationship tune
Put those on your playlist and make it around the track in no time. Let’s hear your results!
