The baby has arrived, and as expected, completely changed your life! You love everything about her except the lack of sleep, breast feeding, and her ability to invent colors in her diaper that Crayola still hasn’t thought of. You are finally at the point where you want to actually step it up and shed the baby weight.
In part two, we talked about staying active during pregnancy, specifically a few tunes that will get you around the track as you walk to stay fit. This part of our discussion is more aggressive. My blushing bride, Dr. Stacia Kelly, added shadow boxing (and later boxing with the heavy bag in the gym) to her normal workout routine. If you’re into weights, or beating the stuffing out of a target, let me suggest a few songs that will help get the adrenaline going. After all, we want you beating an inanimate object, not your husband, during this period of adjustment.
Some up-tempo songs for your serious workout:
“Own Little World” Celldweller (Industrial) Good guitar-driven song with a theme of independence
“I Will Not Bow” Breaking Benjamin (rock) Straight-forward, heavy rock song
“Prayer” Disturbed (rock) great vocals over a straight, pounding rock track w/ a great hook
“Feast” Division (metal) fast song about the zombie apocalypse
“Long Live the Dead” Sex Slaves (rock) good punkish rock song with a killer hook
“Matters of the Dark” Tad Morose (metal) upbeat track featuring two great metal singers
“Hammering in my Head” Garbage (rock) female-driven vocals over a rock/dance tune
“Buried Alive by Love” HIM (rock) neat twist on a love-themed song
“Italian Radio” Blue October (rock) catchy song w/actual yodeling in the chorus
“Scream” Billy Idol (rock) Billy’s 1st single after 15 years off. Great horny rock song.
That’s a good start, but I’d love to hear you suggestions. I omitted a lot of suggestions due to language. Let’s hear what you wanna hear when you hit the gym and make the most out of your opportunity to exercise!

I really like your article. A very good way to get back into shape. I have never hit a heavy bag in a gym – does it hurt your hands? thanks for the inspiration!
Lee,
As a mom who trains with the heavy bag, I always suggest you start out with hand wraps and/or gloves. I train bare handed, but I’m a martial artist and had to build up to training this way. It is a LOT of fun 😉 And a great way to get any frustrations out whether it be due to traffic or household drama.
