Gold Run – The Finish Line

Stacia and I had dinner tonight with a dear friend who we haven’t seen face-to-face in a couple years. He mentioned that he was following our progress on our business via Facebook and was super excited for our success. Then, he asked me a question that made me pause and recap.

“So, what are you guys doing differently?”

The friend was my buddy, Harry. Harry and I met through a business networking group and wound up becoming pretty close friends. He’s one of the most genuine, caring, and funny guys I’ve ever met, and he is sincerely interested in our success. He watched me in my first few years in this business, when I, how do we say this gently, hadn’t rounded out my skill set quite so much.

If you don’t know about our business, Stacia is a holistic health doctor, with her Ph.D. in Healtheology. She had a growing practice for the last few years, but it wasn’t until last August that we decided she should put aside the other freelance work and just work full time on building her practice with new clients. The results were pretty amazing. Her business has grown exponentially over the past year.

The health coaching includes fitness, nutrition, supplementation, and stress management. It really is a holistic approach. Our supplement partner, USANA Health Sciences, ranks associates based on sales of the team. Stacia decided that we were ready to pursue the toughest challenge an associate can undergo – going Gold. (In layman’s terms, it means earning a certain commission level for an extended period of time.)

So, here we are, on the final week of our four week Gold Run, and Harry asks me what we’re doing differently. I’ll do a full-on recap next week, but for now, here are some of my thoughts in my reply to my good friend.

1. The Team. We have worked with spirited and talented people in the past, but we have never had the combination of friends and partners that we have now. These men and women have grown with us, studied with us, learned with us, created and attended events with us, and shared the vision we have for our children and our families. Our lives are better for knowing and growing with them.

2. The Cadence. The team works great when we have regularly scheduled meetings to celebrate successes and to coordinate schedules. Some of these are face-to-face, others are online. Heck, Harry even suggested Google Hangouts, which we’ll start doing ASAP.

3. The Communication. Communication is absolutely essential to growing the business to this level. I firmly believe you can get to a solid part-time earning level alone, but to build your business to the point of full-time earnings, you need a team. I don’t just mean Skype or a closed Facebook group, either. We had open channels of communication with our team members, our leaders, the wonderful field enablement team at USANA, and all the folks we have met over the years who wanted to chip in here or there just to help out.

4. The Leadership. From Day One in our USANA business, we’ve been blessed with the care and love of our local leaders, Dave & Trish Delevante, and a whole cavalcade of caring friends on their own journeys. Dave meets with us every Friday to check the pulse of our business and he has been an amazing mentor to us. We also get wonderful training from a long roster of USANA associates who dedicate their time to training others. I’ll list them in the recap blog.

5. The Humility. Stacia and I are so thankful for everyone who texted, called, messaged, tweeted, and cheered from the sidelines or contributed directly to our last few weeks. We’ve created amazing new partnerships, learned from friends all over the globe, tried new tools, developed new events and new marketing campaigns, and drank a lot of Rev3. We could not do this alone, and we want to thank everyone who helped.

Now, we have two more days to get this done, and we will. I’m confident in Stacia, our leaders, and our growing team. Interested in hearing more or trying out the products, check out the website. If you want to learn more about Stacia’s holistic health coaching practice, leave us a message!

All the best,

nK
