LYRIX
DIVISION
Division has given me the ability to write some more aggressive lyrics
which go hand-in-hand with the heavy, driving metal music. The first single
we've done for the upcoming disc is called Hunt. It's about one of those
poor little goth girls who wants to be a Vampire, and she's calling to
a Vampire to make her into one. So, he kills her, and then turns out not
to be a vamp at all. Check out the lyrics here, and if you like the song,
hit Division's MySpace Page.
HUNT
"Begging softly for my embrace
Seeking pleasure within its taste
Watching you – All alone in your blackened room
The fire burns – beading sweat as midnight turns
Bare your pale skin, seek me within
To live and breathe never again
This “gift” you seek – viewed as such is insanity
This is my curse – so close your mouth and never speak the words
Is death really all you seek in life?
Blood alone can sate your appetite
Is this really every thing you want?
Spread your wings, little one, it’s time to hunt
Candles burning in your dark room
Emulating the haunted moon
Calling out – in your eyes, not a trace of doubt
Licking lips – pooling blood on your fingertips
You view me as savior, I feel my resistance waiver, (the) weight
of life I carry
Alone in your sadness, you romanticize this madness, seek its sanctuary
The darkness, it shatters, (the) image that you had in tatters, splayed
into many threads
The promise becomes fear as you see the razor draw near, reality torn
to shreds
Empty stare, as your death echoes in the air
Now you see the heartless demon that is me
What you wanted for me to be
The last vision you’ll ever see
The fangs and cape, simple props that I throw away
To your dismay, just an actor in this fatal play
Is death really all you seek in life?
Blood alone can sate your appetite
Is this really every thing you want?
Spread your wings, little one, it’s time to hunt"
JUST WANNA PLAY/SUCKERPUNCH
JWP and Punch are a lot more laid back and a totally different feel,
as evidenced from the song Danny and I wrote called 'Bartender'.
BARTENDER
Pour me another drink and I’ll be fine, (Bartender)
Vodka, Jack or Johnny ease my mind, (Bartender)
I ain’t drunk but I am broke and I’ve got a tab to close
So pour me another drink and I’ll be fine
I see her lookin’ right at me, and I was feelin’ H-O-T,
I knew that it was time to make my pass,
Her boyfriend stood up in my face,
A Marine in from the local base,
Said he would be glad to kick my ass (Semper Fi!)
Man, this dude is big, he can snap me like a twig,
I gotta find a fire exit fast
There’s a redhead there and don’t ya know,
That means fire down below,
But my breath smells like I scraped it off my shoe,
I pulled up to the bar to drink a breath mint on the rocks,
I think for this girl I should take a shot or two
She turned and looked at me, but she’s missing two front teeth,
And I can’t take a smile that I see through
I couldn’t feel my face at all, when the bartender yelled out “Last Call!”,
And I voice come whisper in my ear,
My vision wasn’t really there, all I saw was long blonde hair,
When a sultry voice said, “let’s get out of here”
I woke with aching head, a blonde gorilla in my bed,
And I swear that I will never drink again!
OTHER
I've been writing for a Loooooooong time. One of the first CD's I ever
finished in a band was Soul Shaker's "Shaken, Not Stirred".
The ballad off of that was called 'Field of Dreams'.
FIELD OF DREAMS
Who would want to spend this night alone, with the stars in the sky?
I feel the arms that I once called my home slip away into the night...
Can you feel the rain? It's pouring down again,
And nothing ever stays the same
Looking back to the places I've been
Never knowing what it would mean
Nothing's ever quite what it seems,
When you stand alone, in the Field of Dreams
In the mirror the same face every day staring back with positive eyes,
I remember what my father used to say,
"There's nothing you can't do if you try"
But can you feel the rain? It's the pouring down again,
And nothing ever stays the same
Looking back to the places I've been
Never knowing what it would mean
Nothing's ever quite what it seems,
When you stand alone, in the Field of Dreams
